MHRC congratulates Dr. Yvonne Bronner, the Principal Investigator of the Maternal Health Research Coordinating Center (MHRCC) at Morgan State University, on being honored with the prestigious Dr. Hildrus A. Poindexter Award by the Black Caucus of Health Workers (BCHW) at the 2024 American Public Health Association (APHA) Annual Meeting!

For over 40 years, Dr. Bronner has devoted her career to improving the well-being of mothers, children, and families, championing public health in numerous impactful ways. Today, through her leadership of the MHRCC, Dr. Bronner works with the members of the MHRC to address maternal health outcomes. This collaborative, launched in 2023, includes 16 institutions and is designed to build their capacity to conduct community engaged and informed maternal health research, develop skills of early-stage researchers through providing learning opportunities and mentorship.

The Hildrus A. Poindexter Award honors BCHW members who have dedicated themselves to advancing public health and making a meaningful impact on vulnerable communities. This prestigious award celebrates excellence in community service, research, and teaching, recognizing contributions that help improve maternal health. Dr. Bronner exemplifies this commitment, and we are thrilled to celebrate her achievements.
