The Maternal Health Excellence Research Center at Meharry Medical College

The Maternal Health Excellence Research Center (MHERC) at Meharry fosters a vibrant culture of research and action shaped by the voices of our community, faculty, and students. Together, we work to confront and reduce maternal and child health disparities with courage, innovation, and compassion.

Our research center is built on 3 Core Pillars:

  • Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Community-Engaged Research – Advancing research partnerships that elevate community perspectives and drive equitable solutions.
  • Workforce Development – Preparing the next generation of maternal and child health professionals through education, training, and mentorship.
  • Community Advocacy, Education, and Outreach – Promoting awareness, empowerment, and collective action to improve maternal health outcomes.
